Our special guest for the Live surgery session was the author of Heilbronn technique for the retrograde excision of the prostate using a laparoscopic approach and is one of the pioneers of laparoscopy in Urology.
In recognition of his contribution to scientific progress and involvement in the implementation of laparoscopic techniques in Urology in the „Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj Napoca, Professor Jens Rassweiler was appointed the title of Visiting Professor and subsequent he was awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa title by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj Napoca.

Our special guest for this year’s session of Live surgery, Prof. Dr. Bertrand Guilloneau, demonstrated the feasibility of the laparoscopic approach for the radical prostatectomy, encoding for the first time the surgery made with a transperitoneal approach: laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with Montsouris technique.
As a recognition for the involvement in scientific progress and implementation of oncologic laparoscopy in our university, Prof. Dr. Bertrand Guilloneau was awarded Doctor Honoris Causa title by „Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Cluj Napoca.

Prof. Janetschek performed a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy on a patient with a high risk adenocarcinoma, along with an extended bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection under ICG Indocyanine Green fluorescence guidance. The lymph nodes and lymphatics marked with ICG were excised additional to the classic template of extended pelvic lymph node dissection.

Prof. Galiamov performed a laparoscopic radical cystectomy with a Bricker ileal conduit. This is an extremely complex surgical intervention that implies a digestive anastomosis performed totally laparoscopic, which constituted an important step in implementing laparoscopic radical cystectomy with totally intracorporeal ileal orthotopic neobladder in our center.
